Prayer....the Substance  of Things Hoped For....   oil

Similarly to 16-17 century Vanitas based in Ecclesiastes I do symbolic Still life’s.. sort of a pun.. in our film driven world.. of motion.. I put together personal things that are from my growing up and raising children as well as remembering my parents in trying to find new meanings to my life  as I arrive at new age stages in which I see things differently than as before and try to provoke thought and take the viewer to a spiritual level via mundane and visible things that juxtapose and reveal thoughts of faith and prayer and truth that rise up from within us or rise us up to the place where we can encounter our heavenly maker in a dimension that sometimes appears lost or forgotten in our busy day to day or in our emotions and dilemmas.   I paint these still life’s hoping to work out my own questions and crisis of belief and experience that may be in others mind in this age of universalisms.
